Sing Buri was founded in 1895 under the reign of King Rama V through a unification of three small riverside towns, Sing Buri, Phrom Buri and In Buri. It was then established into a new town at Tampon Bang Phutsa and named Muang Sing Buri. The area holds a strategic position in early Thai history, since the Dvaravati period.

Sing Buri is famous for abundant river fish with the Mae La catfish, and for the lively annual boat races among competitors from the province. The province also stands out for cultural and historical attractions, with a great number of Buddhist temples such as Wat Phra Non Chaksi, a temple which houses a 46m-long Buddha image, Wat Sawang Arom, Wat Na Phrathat, Wat Kudi Thong, Wat Phra Prang, Maenam Noi Kiln Site-the largest site for pottery production in the past, In Buri National Museum with a hero’s monument, etc. The province also features two nation parks as Mae La Maha Rachanuson Park which aims to conserve and increase the fish of the river, and Heroes of Khai Bang Rachan Park with three exhibition rooms. Apart from the natural and historical attractions, Sing Buri is well-known for its various local products including delicious traditional food which will bring tourists enjoyable tastes as Khanom Pia, the Chinese pastry made from various flavours and fillings; Pla Chon Mae La, tasty striped snakehead fish; Kun Chiang and Mu Yong, the Chinese pork sausage; Nuea Thup, pounded dried beef, etc and other local products as mattress making with beautiful design, basketry with many materials as rattan, water hyacinth and bamboo, and krayasat- a kind of crispy rice sweet.

Sing Buri is also the land of rich culture and traditions preserved and enhanced during generations with a lot of events and festivals held during the year such as the Bang Rachan Heroes Memorial Fair, Kam Fa Festival, the Ti Khao Bin Festival, the Kuan Khao Thip Festival, the Traditional Long-tailed Boat Race, and the Fish Eating Festival, etc. Each of them has its own special characteristics with many interesting activities and entertainment performances.
