Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Day 1

Your journey kicks off with a 2-hour road trip from the bustling city of Colombo to the adventure haven of Kitulgala.

Now, the real excitement begins as you gear up for some whitewater rafting action on the Kelani River. Stretching 145 kilometers, the Kelani River is the fourth-longest in the country, winding from the Sri Pada Mountain Range to Colombo. After descending from Adam’s Peak, the river meanders through scenic hill country before meeting the Indian Ocean.

Your river adventure starts just upstream from charming Kitulgala. The Kelani has some fantastic level 2 rapids, and we’ll make sure you’ve got all the right gear, so you’re not just riding waves; you’re conquering them. Whether you’re a newbie or a pro, certified guides ensure safety is paramount.

After conquering the rapids, it’s time for a well-deserved lunch in the charming town of Kitulgala.

As the day rolls on, we’ll transfer to Nuwara Eliya, a city nestled in lush greenery, where we’ll check into our charming hotel for the next two nights and enjoy a hearty dinner.

  • Day 2

Rise and shine! Your day kicks off with a breakfast before we whisk you away to the enchanting land of Ella.

Ella, a small town nestled in the Sri Lankan hill country, exudes charm and natural beauty. Surrounded by verdant hills and tea plantations, Ella offers a serene and picturesque setting. The highlight of the town is Little Adam’s Peak, a popular hiking destination known for its manageable trail and rewarding panoramic views. As you ascend, the landscape unfolds, revealing lush greenery, terraced tea estates, and distant mountain ranges.

We’ll stop for lunch at one of the charming street restaurants before we switch gears—quite literally. Say goodbye to hiking boots and hello to bicycle pedals. We’re pedaling through a tapestry of natural beauty to our hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

After a day filled with adventure and exploration, you are free to unwind and freshen up, and as the day gracefully transitions into night, we invite you to join us for a delicious dinner.

  • Day 3

After breakfast this morning, we’ll board the iconic Blue Train for a 4-hour ride from the charming hills of Nuwara Eliya to the vibrant city of Kandy.

Nestled amidst Sri Lanka’s lush landscapes, Kandy is a cultural gem, boasting rich history and picturesque surroundings. The city is known for its vibrant markets, scenic lakes, and cultural landmarks that paint a vivid picture of Sri Lanka’s heritage.

The train journey itself is dubbed one of the most beautiful in the world. As the train winds its way through the island’s diverse landscapes, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of emerald-green tea plantations, mist-covered mountains, and charming villages.

Upon arrival in Kandy, your adventure continues after lunch with a cultural walk that includes a visit to the Temple of the Tooth. This UNESCO World Heritage Site houses sacred relics of the Buddha and is a masterpiece of Sri Lankan architecture, adorned with intricate carvings, golden embellishments, and captivating murals depicting Buddhist stories.

As the day comes to an end, you have the freedom to enjoy dinner at your leisure, savoring the flavors of Kandy.

  • Day 4

After breakfast, we take a 1.5-hour journey to Sigiriya, which seamlessly blends history, nature, and community. The town itself offers a glimpse into rural life, with quaint surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere. Visitors can explore local markets, interact with friendly residents, and appreciate the simplicity of daily life.

For lunch, we’ll cook our very own traditional Sri Lankan dish, and then our cultural interlude unfolds at the historic Dambulla Cave Temple, a mesmerizing complex that showcases Sri Lanka’s ancient art and religious heritage. The cave temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its intricate cave paintings, statues, and stunning architecture.

Following this cultural exploration, our journey continues with a transfer to our deluxe hotel in Sigiriya where we’ll enjoy dinner.

  • Day 5

After breakfast, we’ll gear up for a day filled with awe and adventure! We’ll ascend the ancient Sigiriya Rock fortress on a 2.5- to 3-hour journey through history and culture. This UNESCO World Heritage Site reveals its breathtaking beauty, treating you to panoramic views that showcase Sri Lanka’s landscapes.

After the triumphant climb, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch then switch gears for a peaceful cycling adventure through the lush gardens and countryside surrounding Sigiriya.

  • Day 6

As dawn breaks, get ready for an achievable 30- to 45-minute hike to Pidurangala—a rock formation offering the perfect vantage point for witnessing the awe-inspiring sunrise. From this summit, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, creating a magical and serene start to your day.

Following this breathtaking spectacle, it’s time to check out, enjoy a tasty lunch, and transition to our coastal cycling adventure, where we’ll pedal through Kalpitiya’s coastal landscapes. This oceanside town is renowned for its dolphin-watching opportunities—perhaps, if luck is on our side, we’ll catch a glimpse of a playful dolphin or two along the way.

  • Day 7

After an early breakfast, we’ll get ready for an exciting day of wildlife adventures as we delve into the vast expanse of Wilpattu National Park, which is not only the largest national park in Sri Lanka but also boasts the highest density of leopards in the world. A quick 30-minute transfer brings us to this natural haven, setting the stage for an enthralling 3-hour safari game drive. Keep your eyes peeled for glimpses of not only the elusive leopards but also a myriad of other fascinating creatures, including elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, and an array of bird species.

We’ll stop at a local restaurant for lunch en route back to our beachside haven in Kalpitiya, where you have the afternoon free to explore.

  • Day 8

As your unforgettable adventure draws to a close, we’ll say goodbye to the coastal charm of Kalpitiya with one last breakfast together.
